Mayenda Joins Stade Rennais

Eliezer Mayenda has left Sunderland on a permanent transfer for a fee of £21.5 million.

He leaves Sunderland after three seasons on Wearside after making 72 appearances, scoring 12 goals also registering six assists.

Mayenda scored some memorable goals in his time at the club most notably the equaliser in the play off final at Wembley against Sheffield United, a game Sunderland went on to win confirming a return to the the Premier League for the club.

He will be fondly remembered by the Sunderland fans who renamed him Big Man in a terrace seranade often sang in the Roker End.

It will be very interesting to see who Sunderland target as his replacement in the current transfer window.
