Granit Xhaka is set to stay at Sunderland despite strong interest from Chelsea.
Sunderland have made their stance very clear and have said their club captain is not for sale and that they would not welcome any more bids after Chelsea offered a derisory £8 million.
Xhaka was interested in a potential move if an agreement could be made as he was keen to link up with Alonso his former boss at Bayer Leverkusen who is now the manager of Chelsea.
But Xhaka has now turned down the move and stated he is happy to lead Sunderland in the upcoming season and into their first European campaign in over 50 years.
He has reportedly informed Alonso of his decision to stay with his current club.
The news will come as a huge relief to both the club and it’s adoring fans as their captain is a vital cog in the Sunderland team both on and off the pitch.
